Less Is More: The 3-Step Routine That Works |
Most routines fail because they're trying to do too much. Here's what actually works. |
Trivia Question❓Which popular K-Beauty brand was founded by Lee Jin-wook in 2012 and is known for their sheet masks and skincare products? Answer at the bottom of the newsletter |
The ProblemMost routines fail not because the products are wrong—but because they're trying to do too much.
You've probably been there. Ten steps. Fifteen products. A bathroom cabinet that looks like a Sephora. And somehow, your skin still doesn't feel right.
Here's what I've learned: this is where most people get it wrong.
The goal isn't more. It's better.
When you're overwhelmed by options, you end up doing one of two things: either you skip steps (defeating the purpose), or you do everything and your skin gets irritated from the sheer volume of actives and ingredients.
At this stage of your skin, you need something different. Not more products. Not more steps. Just the right ones, in the right order.
⚙ Tactical ApplicationHere's the framework I'd use if I were simplifying this:
Step 1: Cleanse (Morning & Night) Use a gentle cleanser that doesn't strip. This is non-negotiable. Everything else depends on a clean slate. 30 seconds, lukewarm water.
Step 2: Hydrate (Morning & Night) One hydrating product. Could be a toner, essence, or serum. This is where most routines go wrong—people skip this and jump straight to heavy moisturizers. Apply to damp skin for better absorption.
Step 3: Moisturize (Morning & Night) One moisturizer appropriate for your skin type. Morning: lighter formula. Night: richer formula if needed. This is one of the few that actually earns its spot in your routine.
That's it. Three steps. Morning and night.

🧭 Intelligent ElevationYour skin doesn't need complexity. It needs consistency.
When you have fewer products, you're more likely to use them every single day. When you use them every day, your skin actually improves. When your skin improves, you stop reaching for "fixes" and start trusting your routine.
This is where most people get it wrong—they think more products = faster results. But what actually happens is more products = more irritation = more confusion about what's actually working.
💬 Closing InsightNot everything deserves a place in your routine. The products that do are the ones that make a real difference for your skin, not the ones that promise the most.
Start here. Three steps. Thirty days. Then you'll know what your skin actually needs.
🔁 Repeatable Line: The goal isn't more. It's better. |
